Cool little dive. If you can get past the shady and dilapidated strip mall that it's in, or the torn vinyl booths that you sit in, some decent food shall come your way. Food is mostly Americanized Mexican but their flavors are pretty authentic. And what I really like about their menu is they offer breakfast, both American and Mexican style, all day long. For some reason, that is a really strong draw for me.
Carne Asada con Huevos ($12) This is Mexican steak n' eggs. The steak is well seasoned beef flap meat and griddled to a deep brown with onions and peppers. Nice caramelization. It is served with eggs (your way), some pureed pintos, tortillas (always choose corn!) and some shredded hashbrowns which are kinda superfluous, but nice gesture. It is huge and nap inducing, so plan your day accordingly. I always use the table salsa which has a good jalapeno bite for my eggs and beans. So proper.
Posole ($8) for the small bowl, is pretty legit. Rich broth with a good red chile flavor. Lots of pork chunks and hominy make this very hearty. Squeeze of lime is a must. Just wished they served chopped onions along with the shredded cabbage, but next time I'll just ask for it.
Chicken Mole ($12) has a good amount of tender chicken. I just found the sauce to be a bit sweet. I prefer mole sauce to be more on the earthy side with a predominant dried chile flavor, with just a touch of sweetness. This sauce was "sweet".
Nopales con Huevos ($8) is a good egg breakfast if you wanted to go meatless. Cactus strips are sauted with onions, peppers, tomatoes and eggs. You eat this with beans, tortillas and more salsa of course. They put the same quantity of onions and peppers as cactus, so the star of the dish gets lost. Still tasty, especially with hot sauce, but give me some nopales, since it is in the name of the dish. Or did I miss something? -

I know Mexican food, I've been coming here for years and this place is fabulous! The best pozole, salsa, menudo, frijoles, arroz, mole and chile verde. Their buffet is a great deal too. Friendly staff. I don't live in Fremont any longer, but I always go out of my way to come here! Highly recommended.

This is a "Mom & Pop" hole-in-the-wall restaurant, where their prices are cheap and their service is fast. I normally always order their burritos, which are only $6 and they provide tortilla chips too! That's such an excellent deal! Their burritos are big and they come with sour cream. Some places will charge extra for sour cream, but they don't. Unfortunately, the burritos doesn't come with guacamole; but for only $6, I'm not complaining.
Their food is a hit & miss, where sometimes their burritos will taste fresh & good; while there has been times when the meat was hard & tasted stale. Maybe that's why this restaurant has gotten some poor reviews before. I would rate this restaurant 3.5 stars, but I will round up because for the prices that you pay for and their fast & friendly service, I definitely get my money's worth here.
Another reason why I'm rounding up my star review; is that unlike other restaurants in the Fremont area, Mi Pueblo actually accepts credit cards! They don't have a minimum charge before you can use your credit card. Most places won't allow you to use your credit card until your bill is $15 or more. I really appreciate Mi Pueblo for having that payable option when you're not carrying enough cash around, so they deserve the 4-star rating! -

The only reason I gave them a 4 is because the food was really good. The place it self had a funky odor when I walked in. Feels a bit grimy. Don't let the apperance of the restaurant deceive you. The food is good and the salsa is fresh. Horchata was tasty.
